Note about the Police: although they are everywhere, Policemen are not the best people to ask for information or directions. Azeri police are 100% male and 200% corrupt. Remember to carry your passport with you at all times when you are outside. Azeris are required to do this, and if you do, it will make things easier for you in case you are stopped by the police. In other situations do not get the police involved unless you really need to. It's advisable to get in touch with your embassy first.

So far the only European Union embassies are from: Finland (just an honorary consulate), France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Slovakia, Sweden and the UK. Pick your choice if your country is not represented in Baku.
